General
Symptoms of flu-like illness
May last 2-10 weeks
Pathologically
Plugs of connective tissue in bronchioles and
alveolar ducts with organizing pneumonia in
alveoli
Most patients are middle-aged
BOOP
X-Ray
No usual pattern but a ground-glass
appearance or a picture that looks like
ARDS most common
Very few have cavities, effusions or small
nodules
Marked improvement with steroids both
radiographically and clinically
Bronchiolitis Obliterans
Other causes
Exposure to toxic fumes
Sulfur dioxide
Ammonia
Phosgene
Post-infectious (usually in children)
Connective tissue disease
